Future Perfect Continuous Tense

 

FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

 

                                         Singular number                             plural number

First person             I shall have been finishing            we shall have been finishing

Second person        you will have been finishing        you will have been finishing

Third person           He will have been finishing          they will have been finishing

 

 

USES:

The future perfect continuous tense is used to express an action that will have been going on at or before some point of time in the future.

Example:

By next June, I shall have been completing my studies.

 

Cause of something in the future

Examples:

Her English will be excellent by the time she visits the U.S. because she will have been studying it for five years.

He will be tired by the time he arrives because he will have been traveling all day.

 

Duration before something in the future.

Examples:

He will have been waiting for an hour when she finally arrives.

She will have been working at the company for ten years by the time I retire.

 

The Future Perfect Continuous tense is used for actions which will be in progress

over a period of time that will end in the future.

Examples:

By next May we shall have been living here for three years.

I’ll have been teaching for twenty-five years next June.

 

This tense is not very common.
